Episode Synopsis

On Day 25, Sarah is struggling physically and emotionally, feeling like she has not been contributing enough to the group. Food is also becoming a problem again. Since the camps merged, the team has been rationing carefully, but their remaining meat is now gone.

Wes and Ryan head out hunting together. Wes gets another opportunity, lands an arrow and follows a strong blood trail to an impala. It is his third successful kill, which gives the group a badly needed food supply but leaves Ryan increasingly frustrated. Despite his experience with a bow, he still has not secured an animal while Wes continues to have success.

With Seth gone, Bulent inherits his bow. Well fed and back on his own, he appears to be thriving in solitude. He practices with the bow and inspects Seth's old hunting blind, quickly deciding it was barely a blind at all and needs to be completely rebuilt.

Back at the large camp, everyone races to butcher and smoke the impala before nightfall so they can protect the meat from scavengers.

Wes, meanwhile, is dealing with a serious problem of his own. He has not had a bowel movement in roughly three weeks, and apparently no one in the group has. He goes off alone to try again but is unable to relieve himself and notices blood.

The heat is also taking a heavy toll on the group. Ryan and Sarah struggle in the extreme temperatures, Gwen shows signs of heat exhaustion and begins vomiting, and Wes's condition continues to worsen. He becomes increasingly concerned that his severe constipation could lead to an infection.

On Day 26, Bulent scavenges the remaining useful supplies from Seth's abandoned camp, including a fire starter and arrowheads. He constructs a much better hunting blind, though strong wind and overcast conditions make bow hunting difficult. He gets a shot but misses.

Bulent's food situation also begins tightening again. He checks his terrapin lines and discovers that the bait has been taken without producing a catch.

At the other camp, Wes builds himself a makeshift throne-style toilet so he can sit comfortably and keep trying to pass the blockage. His condition becomes painful enough that the group calls for a medic.

After examining him, the medical team determines that Wes has a severe bowel obstruction. They allow him another 24 hours to see if his condition improves.

By Day 28, Wes tries again but remains unable to have a bowel movement and is in significant pain. With the obstruction showing no signs of resolving, the medical team determines that continuing the challenge is too dangerous.

Wes is medically tapped, ending his challenge just days after securing another major kill for the group.
