Episode Synopsis
On Day 4, the remaining survivalists continue battling extreme heat, dangerous wildlife and growing tension within their teams.
Wes and Gwen head out hunting and scouting, eventually spotting rock hyrax in a dry riverbed. Wes takes a shot but misses. Back at their camp, they begin building a hunting blind to improve their chances.
Seth is still suffering from the effects of the heat but feels pressure to prove himself as the hunter of his team. He heads out again while Suzanne sets passive fishing lines and worries that he is pushing himself too hard. She wants him back at camp by noon so he does not end up incapacitated by heat exhaustion again. Seth, however, believes Suzanne's activity near the water is scaring away potential game. The two eventually focus on constructing a hunting blind, but Seth continues deteriorating in the heat and eventually vomits from the strain.
Tension is also building between Kate and her teammates. She wants a larger leadership role, but Bulent has little interest in listening to her and decides his best strategy is simply to ignore her. Kate sets passive fishing lines but loses one of her hooks to a fish before turning her attention to a hunting blind.
At Jon, Sarah and Ryan's camp, crocodiles have made even collecting water dangerous. The trio jokingly names their home "Camp Murder Puddle" and remains constantly alert near the shoreline. Their fears are justified when crocodiles come extremely close to camp during the night.
Sarah continues looking for safer ways to fish while Ryan hunts and Jon settles into the role of "camp manager," taking care of chores around the boma.
Back at Bulent, Makani and Kate's camp, frustrations continue to escalate. Kate complains that the freshly boiled water is too hot to drink. When Makani later brings her water, Kate criticizes her for not doing enough work on the boma roof. Bulent sees an inevitable confrontation coming and begins openly considering banishing Kate.
By Day 6, Sarah tries fishing with a pole but has no luck and eventually loses another hook to a crocodile. Ryan continues hunting, missing a shot at a hyrax before successfully shooting a woodpecker.
Kate's patience finally runs out when she finds Bulent napping. Furious with both of her teammates and convinced the partnership is not working, she considers leaving on her own. Bulent dismisses her behavior as "Looney Tunes" and has no objection to seeing her go.
Kate ultimately self-banishes from the team, taking Bulent's bow with her. Bulent is so relieved to be rid of the conflict that he is willing to lose the bow along with her.
The episode ends with Kate alone in the South African bush, searching for a new path forward.
