Where to Watch
Episode Synopsis
On Day 17, Suzanne and Seth officially split up. Suzanne keeps the conversation cordial as they divide their shared equipment, but Seth remains bitter about the separation. He keeps the bow and half of the fishing kit. Although he is worried about surviving alone, he is also clearly relieved to have the camp to himself.
Suzanne begins a three-mile trek in search of a new team.
Bulent is facing a growing survival problem. His water source is disappearing rapidly, and he estimates he may only have three or four days before it dries up. While scouting, he finds the remains of what may have been an impala, including a piece of hide. He soaks the hide in water hoping to salvage it for another use.
At Wes and Gwen's camp, life is going much better. With Ryan temporarily staying with them, the three are eating well and feeling strong. Ryan brings up the possibility of moving his original team to their camp. Wes and Gwen are open to the idea and send Ryan back carrying a large supply of meat as an invitation.
Sarah and Jon are still dealing with the constant danger of crocodiles around their water source when they spot Suzanne approaching. They go out to meet her and immediately bring her water. Suzanne explains what happened with Seth, and Sarah and Jon invite her to stay while everyone gets a feel for the new group dynamic.
Seth prepares for his first night alone.
Bulent retrieves the hide he has been soaking, despite its terrible smell, and decides it may be useful for making shoes. While out exploring, he spots a monitor lizard and manages to kill it with a spear. He plans to use nearly every part of the animal, including the meat, organs and skin. He smokes the meat into jerky and begins incorporating the skin into his homemade footwear.
Seth survives his first solo night but is becoming extremely hungry. From his hunting blind, he watches a herd of impala approach, only for them to remain just outside bow range. Later, he catches and kills a small harmless snake inside his boma, giving him at least something to eat.
Ryan eventually returns to Sarah and Jon and tells them about Wes and Gwen's successful camp, encouraging everyone to move there.
With his water source nearly gone, Bulent decides he also has to abandon his camp. He packs his tools and carries hot coals in his cooking pot so he can preserve his fire while traveling.
Ryan, Sarah, Suzanne and Jon begin their journey toward Wes and Gwen's camp. The heat quickly takes a toll on Sarah. She slows considerably and begins worrying that she may be developing heat stroke as temperatures continue rising.
Bulent continues his own migration and eventually reaches Seth's camp.
The episode ends with Bulent unexpectedly arriving at Seth's boma, bringing two of the challenge's solo survivalists together.
