Naked and Afraid XL — Season 1

Naked and Afraid XL launched in July 2015 with an eight-episode arc filmed entirely in the Colombian rainforest. The premise reset the format from 21-day pairs to a longer group survival competition, take twelve of the franchise's most experienced survivalists and put them into a single continuous 40-day challenge.

The debut cast included EJ Snyder, Laura Zerra, Jeff Zausch, Chris Fischer, Hakim Isler, Honora Bowen, Dani Beau, Alana Barfield, Shane Lewis, Luke McLaughlin, Dani Julien, and Eva Rupert. Episode titles include "40 Days: No Escape," "40 Days: Snake in the Grass," "40 Days: Death March," "40 Days: Sacrifice," and the finale "40 Days: Filth and Fury," a season that established the XL format's blend of physical attrition and long-form group politics.
