Episode Synopsis
In “A Raft of Trouble,” the remaining five Global Showdown teams enter day 15 with the competition shifting again. Mexico celebrates surviving another elimination and taking down another legend, but despite its fighting spirit, the team remains at the bottom with the fewest survival assets and no guinea fowl from the previous challenge. USA South sits in first place with the strongest collection of tools and rewards, while USA East trails close behind and Australia holds third.
Before the next major move, teams try to gather whatever food they can. Gabrielle catches three catfish for USA East, while Frank lands one for USA South. Then a new map reveals the next twist: all teams must migrate eight to eleven miles to a completely different zone near a lake. The new environment is marshy and lakefront, with less big game to hunt and a much heavier focus on fishing in waters filled with Nile crocodiles and hippos.
On day 16, the teams migrate together for safety through rough, predator-rich terrain. After eight difficult miles, the landscape changes into thicker, jungle-like terrain. When they arrive, the scoreboard resets to zero, wiping away every team’s previous point advantage. Each team draws a scroll leading to a unique campsite, then must quickly build a boma before nightfall. The danger is immediate, with hippos visiting the bomas overnight.
On day 17, the first challenge of the new zone is revealed: each team must build one raft capable of carrying a survivor across the lake. They have two days to construct it using buoyant raffia palm plants in a native-style design. With unfamiliar materials, dangerous water ahead, and the standings reset, raft-building decisions quickly spark disagreements. USA East finishes first, earning 100 points, while USA South and Australia complete theirs on day 18 and earn 100 points as well. Though other teams test their rafts, USA South feels confident enough to skip a test run.
On day 19, the raft relay begins. One teammate must paddle 100 feet to collect edible lily pads, return to shore, then switch with their partner, who must paddle 135 feet to collect weaver nests and race back. Mexico starts slowly and struggles to launch, while Australia’s Alexa initially leads the pack. Gabrielle has trouble steering, and the race quickly turns chaotic on the water.
Fernanda reaches the lily pads first for Mexico and returns to shore ahead of the other teams. USA South, USA East, Brazil, and Australia chase behind, with Alexa dropping a lily pad and having to go back for it. On the second leg, Pablo keeps Mexico’s momentum going by reaching the weaver nests first and returning to shore in first place. Mexico wins the raft relay and surges to the top with 250 points.
The final standings after the challenge put Mexico in first with 250 points, USA East second with 200, Brazil third with 170, USA South fourth with 150, and Australia last with 100. After weeks below the red line, Mexico’s raft win completely resets its position in the game, while Australia suddenly finds itself at the bottom of the new leaderboard.
