Spewing and Stinging Venom

In “Spewing and Stinging Venom,” the challenge resumes on day 20 with the scattered shipwrecked teams beginning to merge. Adam Kavanagh and Amanda Wilson make it to the beach and find Ana Lis Pitter, Darrin Reay, and Malu Beyonce, eventually forming a new five-person beach camp. Patrick French and Allison Frueh are still rafting toward the smoke they saw in the distance, while Jamie Frizzell, Dani Beau, and Jarrell Banks are trying to settle into their new camp despite worsening team tension.

Adam and Amanda’s brutal jungle trek ends when they reach the beach and spot Ana Lis, Darrin, and Malu. Both sides are excited, and Darrin immediately gives them coconut. Adam and Amanda bring fishing hooks, which the others did not have, creating an instant upgrade for the newly combined camp. They also combine their partial maps, giving everyone a clearer picture of the island. Ana Lis is especially excited because the hooks mean they can finally fish.

The mood is much worse with Dani, Jamie, and Jarrell. They try to focus on making traps for freshwater shrimp using coconut bait, with Jarrell working on his own trap, Dani making one too, and Jamie building an arapuca trap. Dani’s trap works quickly, catching a shrimp, then another shrimp and a crab. But when she does not want the crab in the same pot as the shrimp because she worries the creatures will fight, Jarrell and Jamie disagree. The argument between Dani and Jarrell spins out of control, and Dani breaks down in tears.

That conflict becomes a breaking point. Dani turns on Jamie for not sticking up for her and starts thinking about going off on her own. She tries to make him pick a side — either leave with her or stay with Jarrell. Jarrell says he does not want the team to split, but Dani and Jamie decide to head back to the beach camp anyway, giving him the choice of which camp he wants to stay at.

Three hours into Patrick and Allison’s raft journey, Patrick is in the water pushing while Allison is looking forward to finding other people. When they finally reach the beach where they saw smoke, no one is there. They shout for survivors and find the remnants of a shelter, which turns out to be Dani’s team’s original camp, but Dani, Jamie, and Jarrell have already moved on.

The new five-person beach camp quickly feels positive and functional. Amanda goes off to fish, while Malu is thrilled to be around Adam because she is a huge fan of him from his previous challenges. Darrin says Malu is a great student, and the larger group has strong chemistry right away. Amanda catches a fish, making Ana Lis extremely happy. Later, Malu spots a stingray and decides she wants to make a spear.

At the abandoned beach camp, Patrick and Allison’s disappointment turns into relief when Dani and Jamie arrive. Jamie and Patrick have a bad history from a previous Last One Standing challenge, but Jamie is genuinely happy to see Patrick this time. Patrick, Allison, Dani, and Jamie merge into a new four-person beach camp and combine their maps, giving them two pieces of the four-piece island map.

Alone now, Jarrell wants to prove to his former teammates that he can survive by himself. But he has no map and no firestarter, meaning he has to keep his fire going at all costs. The four-person beach camp talks about how hard things are going to be for him alone. That night, mosquitoes hammer him, and when he hears something nearby, he looks out and sees a wild dog.

On day 21, Darrin and Adam take the five-person camp’s raft out to fish, with Darrin happy to have another guy around. Malu hunts for stingray with her spear, while Amanda and Ana Lis fish. At the four-person beach camp, Allison is liking the new team and location. Patrick wants to fish too, and even though the others warn him about jellyfish danger, he does not care. He hunts stingray with the Hawaiian sling but has no luck. Jarrell, exhausted after a bad night with the mosquitoes, works on improving his shelter to fight the bugs.

By day 24, Patrick and Dani head out on an early morning beach forage and spot a stingray. Patrick misses with the Hawaiian sling on his first attempt, but he lands the next shot. Then he gets another stingray, giving the four-person camp a huge food win. But the success turns dangerous when Jamie steps on a stingray and gets barbed. The medic checks his vitals, which are all good, and Jamie does not want to tap out. While Jamie deals with the pain, Patrick keeps hunting and gets another stingray.

At his solo camp, Jarrell renames the place “Relly’s Ranch” and feels good about his upgraded shelter. He checks Dani’s shrimp traps and finds two crabs, then decides he wants to use them as bait in Jamie’s arapuca trap. Dani has also forgotten her Pulaski, and Jarrell uses it to harvest taro before she comes back for it.

Back at the four-person beach camp, the stingray is grilled while Jamie slowly improves, though his foot is still in a lot of pain. Dani has nothing to eat because she is vegan, so Patrick suggests going to Jarrell’s camp to retrieve coconut, banana, and taro. Jamie and Dani stay behind while Patrick and Allison set off. Allison wants to approach Jarrell in a friendly way, while Patrick is ready for a confrontation if needed.

The encounter goes much better than expected. Jarrell is relieved to see new people and happily turns over the items. He directs Patrick and Allison to the taro, helps them understand how to use it, and even offers already processed taro root. They also ask for the arapuca trap, and Patrick commits to paying Jarrell back for the food. Patrick likes him so far, and the exchange ends on surprisingly good terms.

At the five-person beach camp, Darrin goes out on his raft to fish by himself. The others are getting bites, but the fish are so small they keep taking the bait without getting caught. Adam hunts with the Hawaiian sling, and Malu suddenly starts screaming for him after spearing a stingray. She panics a little because she does not know what to do next, but Amanda comes over with a machete to help. Malu is thrilled and proud of herself, and the group later sits around the campfire enjoying grilled stingray.

Patrick and Allison make it back to the four-person beach camp with the food and gear from Jarrell’s camp. Jamie is confused by how nice Jarrell was to them, especially after everything that happened between him and the group. The episode ends with Jamie still struggling through the pain from the stingray barb, while the merged camps continue adjusting to new alliances, new food wins, and the fallout from Jarrell’s split.
