Whitney Hamblin is a Westfield High School (Indiana) alumna who thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in 2016, which led Discovery producers to recruit her for the show. She competed on Season 10 of Naked and Afraid in the 2019 episode Naked and Afraid S10E3 "Got Another Sting Coming", surviving the full 21-day challenge in a Brazilian jungle with partner Nathan Martinez.
