Episode Synopsis
In Botswana, survival instructors Tyler Dean Milligan and Holly Robertson enter a surprise 21-day “Alone” challenge, each believing they will have to survive without a partner. After a brutal four-mile insertion hike, Tyler struggles with thirst and does not complete the trek on day one, while Holly also suffers early and vomits from dehydration on day two. When they finally meet up, the challenge shifts: they now have two pots, two fire starters, and a chance to work together.
Tyler steps up while Holly rests, but the environment quickly turns against him. Heavy rain and wind hammer them on night two, followed by relentless bugs once the rain stops. Holly manages to sleep, but Tyler cannot get any rest at all. She builds him a raised bed platform to help, but the bugs keep tearing him apart. By day five, exhausted and sleepless, Tyler taps out, leaving Holly alone.
Now solo, Holly pushes through brutal nights and zero food. She builds snare traps and an arapuca bird trap, but days pass with no catches and no calories. By day 14, she is still starving until she stumbles across a meat-filled spring hare carcass. Near the end, her arapuca trap finally catches a dikkop bird, giving her one last boost. Despite dehydration, isolation, bugs, hunger, and losing her partner, Holly completes the challenge.
